‘I remember on our Atlantic row, after a few thousands miles from land, staring out and being quite overwhelmed by the scale of it all. Just water everywhere, stretching beyond the horizon in all directions. It’s different here. Perhaps my perspective has changed. There’s a sort of acceptance of our insignificance amidst it all. Accept, be grateful, enjoy. I say this to myself whilst on the oars. This is no great new philosophical mantra but it definitely helps. ‘
