Painting of a stormy sky over the ocean with dark clouds and turbulent water.

The Ship’s Log paintings…

When Anthony Garratt, a painter, began to follow the Maclean Brother’s audacious challenge of rowing, non-stop across the Pacific Ocean, he was excited to subscribe to their Ship’s Log; a daily update from aboard Rose Emily.

The descriptions were so evocative, eclectic and engaging, Anthony began to revisit the analogue way in which explorers of past generations would engage their audiences by writing stories, making paintings and illustrations inspired by their encounters, and experiences.

Anthony then selected ten ‘chapters’ of this extraordinary story and attempted to capture something of them in paint; whether it be a weather observation, or a dramatic encounter, these oil paintings have been made as illustrations and vicarious memories of a most brilliant, record-breaking adventure.

These unique artworks are all now available for sale, as both original oil paintings on canvas, and limited edition prints. Signed by both the artist, and Maclean Brothers; after production costs are covered, all profits from the sale of the paintings will be donated to the Maclean Foundation to continue their ambitious fundraising for clean water projects in Madagascar.
